知情人士透露，独行侠长期资深医疗主管凯西-史密斯在2023年8月被解雇，结束其接近20年的独行侠生涯。原因是哈里森认为史密斯“不够顺从并且态度消极”。

一位球队内部人士对此说道：“他（哈里森）完全感受到了来自史密斯的威胁，因为史密斯在球队中的话语权太重了。
